I was recently going through my inspiration file when I came across these stunningly gorgeous images of Aerin Lauder's Greek Revival home in East Hampton.

Is anyone drooling yet...?

What could be a more perfect place to stay a spell then this particular white house? And look, it even has a vintage, 1962 Mercedes (just one of the coolest cars around, if you ask me) already in the driveway for whenever you might wish to go for a spin about town and check in (a.k.a. spy) on your neighbors magnificent mansions :)

The dining room is stunning too. I absolutely adore that Waterford Crystal chandelier. I have a thing for chandeliers in general; the way they can take a simple room and add such a zest to it. Not that this particular room, with it's perfect-shade-of-teal walls, zebra patterned rug and antique mirror (that once belonged to Estee Lauder, Aerin's grandmother, herself) is a "simple" room.

And the lady of the manor, herself! Doesn't she look absolutely lovely and perfectly match her home? And don't you just adore that enormous Hermes bag strapped to the back of her bike? Now, that's what I call a bike basket :)

Miss Piggy: Start out perfect and don’t change a thing. Always accentuate your best features by pointing at them. And conceal your flaws by sucker punching anyone who has the audacity to mention them.

And then they say actors are narcissistic :)
But seriously, we could all take lessons from her. I mean, she's been around forever and yet she still looks as youthful as she did when she first began as a mere, little piglet. Why do most women spend so much time and energy trying to hide what they perceive to be "flaws" about themselves? If only all women could be as confident as this gal!

Other than at either of the Mageia stores in both Athens and Mykonos, Ileana Makri jewelry can be found in the most prestigious stores around the world, including Barneys New York in the U.S., Browns and Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris, No30 in Milan and Takashimaya in Tokyo and is worn by some of the most glamorous, and respected people today.
When I meet the stunning woman behind the brand, she enters her jewel-box of a store with an outstretched hand, a smile on her lips and an easygoing demeanor that perfectly complements her design aesthetic.

How would you describe your personal style?
Casual and discrete. I would say that comfort and practicality are a must before anything else. I try to dress understatedly especially during the daytime because I like to be able to go all over town and not be noticed; I enjoy being able to people-watch without the people noticing me.

Do you have a go-to outfit that always makes you feel put-together?
In the wintertime I definitely have a go-to outfit; black boots, black leggings, t-shirts by The Row and a Rick Owens jacket or top. In the summer because I’m mostly on the islands and near the beach it would be a t-shirt and easy pants, nothing too particular.

What is the one piece in your wardrobe that you wish you owned in multiples?
My wish has become a reality because I do own my favorite item in multiples and those are The Row t-shirts; I live in them, I sleep in them, I wear them to go out in the evening as well as during the day. They personify me perfectly.

Do you have a “signature” item (i.e. jewelry, sunglasses, watch) that you wear everyday?
Everyday I wear my reading glasses – they are my signature piece. I buy them in New York and they aren’t anything in particular just over the counter glasses. Besides that, I would say my Phillip Stein watch; I never go anywhere without it. Its face shows two time zones and it’s always set for New York and Athens. I also wear a piece of jewelry but that isn’t always the same piece as I go through spells with them all; I’ll wear the Diamond Thread Bands or my current, favorite pair of earrings which I’ll wear everyday for a few months in a row.

Do you have a favorite perfume?
I usually don’t wear perfume. However, a couple of years ago in the Barneys Basement I discovered the "Le Labo" fragrances; I wear "Rose 31." The bottle is labelled with my name.
Is there any item in particular that you currently have your eye set-on acquiring?
Actually, at the moment there isn’t anything that I can think of. Mind you, this doesn’t happen very often, but at the moment I’m content and don’t need anything.

What jewelry pieces do you think every woman should invest in?
Investment is an interesting subject when it comes to jewelry. Usually jewelry is valued according to its material; the metal and stones that make it up. So according to that the best investments are one carat diamonds set in metal because with them you have both the stone and the metal which never lose their value. On the other hand, jewelry can be valued as design pieces. For example, Lalique jewelry isn’t valued according to the metal and the enamel it’s made of but is valued as a wonderful piece of art. So, thirty years down the road that jewelry could still have its value as a piece of art unless of course, this type of design doesn’t interest anyone anymore.
So getting back to your question, I would suggest women invest in a diamond band which is a beautiful piece for any women to acquire. Personally, I prefer fine diamond bands because I find the thick diamond bands a little vulgar. Also, any size diamond studs are beautiful and then, of course, any piece of jewelry that makes a woman feel wonderful and like a million dollars is always a good investment.

If you had to choose, which would you say is your favorite piece of Ileana Makri Jewelry?
That’s a difficult one for me since it always varies and depends on my different moods. I don’t think I can really choose; that would be like asking somebody which of their children do they like more. However, one of my favorite pieces is also my first piece and the one that I always have with me, which is my Diamond Thread Band.

Any fashion pet-peeves?
High heels during the day – however, I do love them in the evening – and any outfit that is too “matchy.”

According to the talented, Ms. Jackman, the lady in this photo was just riding past the Tuillieries during the Paris fashion shows and decided to stop by and have a look at the proceedings. I really don't think that I'd look fitting enough to simply pop into a fashion show after working and riding my bike around the town! Guess, one has to be French to pull that trick off so chicly!

Cinnamon buns have always been one of my absolute, favorite delectables. There's just something about all that crunchy, crusty cinnamon-sugar topping juxtaposed by the gooey, dough-iness of the bun that makes them simply irresistible.

Well, let me tell you... this Sticky Cinnamon Bun recipe found on my absolute favorite foodie blog, Meeta's, "What's for Lunch, Honey?" takes the humble bun and raises it up to a whole other level! You will not stop licking your fingers, in fact... I burned my poor pinkies when impatience overtook me and I tried grabbing a gorgeously golden, goey one from the just (JUST!) out of the oven baking pan! That didn't damped my enjoyment of them though -- or the entire rest of the household's for that matter. A mere ten minutes later all that was left of them was a small layer of crumbs on the bottom of the pan.

Verdict: Try them! And if Meeta ever wants to open up a pattiserie, I'll be first in line! ;)

My idea of winter fun?

Have you ever seen anything more gorgeous? This isn't just a "closet" but the personification of a whole ideal! We all love J. Crew -- now more than ever -- and it's all due in large part to the owner of this perfect closet specimen, the lovely, Jenna Lyons.

I just love everything about this room from the fireplace, to the shoe shelves (omigosh!) to the sunlight streaming in through the windows, to the striped rug underfoot... it's like a private boutique!

How can't a woman named "Ines de la Fressange" have all of the above in spades?

As is fitting to a lady of her esteem, she decends from an old French aristocratic family and began her career as a model in the early 70's. She's worked with all the greats in the business including Karl Lagerfeld who named her the face of Chanel Haute Couture. After a long and illustrious career -- during which she even headed her own luxury label -- she's now the mother to two beautiful daughters and the Brand Ambassador to Diego Della Vale's, Roger Vivier label (she's seen wearing Vivier's insanely addictive flats, handbag and sunglasses in the above photos.)

In short, she's one woman who never fails to inspire and influence me. She epitomises everything we all love to emulate about French women's style and who I daresay is today in her early 50's, even lovlier than she was when she first burst on the scene some thirty odd years ago.

Doesn't she make you want to cut your hair really short and wear white jeans?

Vanessa Redgrave has been one of my favorite ladies ever since I was a little girl. The musical Camelot -- in which she starred as Guenevere alongside Richard Harris and her real life husband, Franco Nero -- was played in regular rotation at my house. In fact, I blame my neverending love of diaphanous, flower dresses on her "It's May" sequence :)

I couldn't resist posting this photo of her from the October issue of U.S. Vogue; she is just as lovely as ever -- if not even more -- and seems to me to be the epitome of everything any woman can ever wish to be. Stylish, confidant, elegant, lovely, accomplished... a real lady.

H. Stern jewelry never fails to fascinate me and pieces from the company's collections are definitely included in my extensive wish lists! However, something about these Nazareth earrings has really touched a special note. Devoid of everything but the bare basic material of the jewelers craft -- gold -- they really stand out. But then again, that shouldn't surprise me... what's more precious than gold?

Carrots + Pineapples = CAKE...

As they saying goes: opposites attract. Though carrots are a humble, root vegetable and pineapples are an exotic, tropical fruit the sum of these two parts adds up to the most delicious, mouthwatering cake anyone can ever imagine!

Most carrot cake recipes don't call for pineapples which is what makes it extra special. This one by Ina Garten is very similar to the recipe my family has been making for years and years. The only main difference is that I omit the walnuts (not a huge walnuts-in-cakes fan) and that I add honey into the cream cheese frosting recipe to give it that extra hit of special. You seriously have got to try it if you never have! This is the cake that's usually requested for birthdays and always gets rave reviews!

Do these two divas of the handbag world -- the Chanel 2.55 and the Hermes Birkin -- really need an introduction?

The first was created in 1955 by Mademoiselle Chanel herself to house her everyday necessities. The second was co-designed in 1984 by Jane Birkin reportedly in order to use as a diaper bag for her daughter, Lou. Two beauties from two venerable French fashion houses. Season after season, not only do they weather any current handbag trends but they manage to always overthrow them and wind up at the very top of every fashionista's need, want or dream lists -- the final purchase of which is dictated solely by the fashionistas' current financial situation, of course. There's never a dull moment with these two. Sure, you often have to get past a loooong wait-list for the privilege of carrying one -- especially for the Birkin although the Chanel has a long list for any special colors or special editions -- but once they make their way into your closet they truly become... a girls best friend!

So, why settle for a trend? Timeless is always more unique in the end.

Bestselling and Award-wining novelist, Debbie Macomber, is without a doubt one of those special people.

She’s gone from humble beginnings involving taking care of four young children, a kitchen table and a rented typewriter to having sold more than 75 million books which have been translated into 23 languages and have scored top honors in the N.Y. Times (among other notable) bestseller lists. When Debbie isn’t busy writing her latest bestseller she is an avid knitter – a talent that often is parlayed into the characters she creates on page as well – and has a line of knitting notions and pattern booklets proceeds of which go to knitting charities and World Vision.
Oh, and she now has eight grandchildren too!
Her next release, 1022 Evergreen Place, (book #10 in her "Cedar Cove" series) is available next month and eagerly anticipated by millions around the globe.
With all this going on in her life I am thrilled and honored that Debbie managed to find the time to stop by and “chat” with me about her “go-to’s” and favorites and fashion wish-lists! I hope you enjoy taking this sneak peak with the lady behind the stories!

1. Do you have a go-to outfit that always makes you feel put together?
I do. Whenever I was booked for a television appearance I wore my dark blue St. John's suit. After a year or two I was looking for a change and came upon a pink jacket with a flowered pink scarf that really popped on screen. I wore it so often my publicist finally asked me to find something else; otherwise it looked like that was the only outfit I owned. I still wear it on occasion because it makes me feel good--cheerful, bright and happy.

2. What is the one piece in your wardrobe that you wish you owned in multiples?
Hmm . . . interesting question. I'd have to say it would probably be my butt-minimizer pants. I would like them in every color. Who wouldn't?

3. Do you have a "signature" item?
I collect cameos and treasure each and every one I own. In almost all of my publicity photos I'm wearing a cameo in one form or another, usually as a brooch, or a pendant on a chain.

4. Do you have a favorite perfume?
Beautiful by Estee Lauder.

5. If you could design anything, what would it be?
Because I'm a real yarn-a-holic, I would love to design an intricate knitted lace shawl.

6. What's in your current wish list?
If you mean fashion wish list, I would like a purse large enough to hold everything I need without being overly large; one with a cell phone holder on the outside, along with a zippered pouch for my cash and credit cards. If you're referring to my general goal list, I have a number of wishes I'm currently working on developing. I'd love to have one of my books turned into a big-screen movie.

7. Are you a bag-person or a shoe-person? And according to your answer, do you have a favorite handbag or a favorite pair of shoes?
Yes to both. I enjoy Brighton purses . . . and have purchased them for years. Lately, however, I've found that they're either too small or too big. I like Monroe shoes as they are so comfortable.

8. Do you match your bag to your shoes?
Sorry, no. I don't change purses that often.

9. Are you ever influenced style-wise by the characters you create?
Not really. If anything, they're influenced by me. A lot of a character's personality can be conveyed by his or her choice of clothes; I often use this to reveal their individuality to the reader. It only takes a sentence or two, whereas if I were to describe every facet of their personality it could require pages. The fact that a heroine wears a designer dress to a baseball game says far more--actually SHOWS more-- in a few sentences than pages of narrative would.

10. If you could have chosen to be born in another era which era would you have chosen based entirely on the fashion of that day?
That's another interesting question. Hmm . . . I particularly enjoy reading books set during the Regency period in England but the fashions don't exactly suit me. The fact is I enjoy the freedom we have right now. It's been fun to see the retro look return from the 60s. I was raised in an age when girls were required to wear dresses to school. Oh, how times have changed!

Cheesecake... need I say more?

Once I "discovered" this delish recipe for individual cheesecakes at the Joy of Baking I must admit that I couldn't help myself -- and I'm so glad that I didn't!

Not only are these small delights a cinch to make they taste just as creamy and amazing -- if not even better -- than the best traditional, pie-sized cheesecake. Plus, I just adore their small size! Now, the recipe says to line muffin cups with a strip of parchment paper so the cakes don't stick but I actually just used a traditional cupcake pan lined with cupcake cups and simply peeled the paper away to serve. Topped with a dollop of cherry jam and a plump, fresh cherry, I must admit my mini cheesecakes were finger-likin' amazing!!

I ask you...

Is there ANYTHING yummier than cheesecake?

I would have to say that I agree with every one of those compliments, however, after being priveleged enough to read a hot-off-the-presses copy of Brenda's latest release, WHITE HEAT, I see that even those high words of praise don't manage to do her storytelling justice. I literally couldn't put the book down!
And as if Brenda's storytelling talent and multi-awarded career as a novelist weren't enough virtues for one woman to posses, she's also a wife, a mother of five and hosts an annual fundraiser for diabetes research through which, to date, she has raised over $1 million!
So, in order to celebrate the release (available today!) of Brenda Novak's, newest novel, WHITE HEAT -- which is happily the first in a series including BODY HEAT and KILLER HEAT, to be released in Sept. and Oct. respectively -- I am thrilled to welcome Brenda here and for the chance to talk to her behind the written page!

Upscale casual. I’m a mom, a wife and a busy author who is also running a charity that raises over $300,000/year for diabetes research. I have to be comfortable in order to plow through so much work.

Do you have a go-to outfit that always makes you feel put-together?
I’d have to say my “conference gear” makes me feel best. I have a “business wardrobe” for when I travel and speak. Most of it is business casual, but I notice I’ve been adding more dresses and skirts in recent years. I guess I’m feeling less and less like dressing for business and am more interested in finding my own style.

Do you have a “signature” item that you wear everyday?
My rings are the only things I wear every day. I never take them off. My favorite is an eternity band set in white gold—a gift from my husband. My wedding ring isn’t much to brag about. We were so poor when we got married. We bought it for $600 from a pawn shop, but it has sentimental value so I don’t want a new one.

Do you have a favorite perfume?
I like changing my scent every once in a while, but right now my favorite is Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue

Are you a bag-person or a shoe-person?
Definitely shoes! I love all kinds of shoes, but especially sandals. This year, I've bought several pairs with some heel to them. I think they’re sexier with a bit of a heel so I’m glad to see so many designers going back to that.

Do you match your bag to your shoes?
I’m afraid I’m far too practical to take the time for this. I stick to one organized bag, which is really more of a wallet—very small and not what you would imagine a mother of five toting around! I really prefer to travel light. It’s my husband who wants to bring along everything, including the kitchen sink! Ha!

What items are on your current wish-list?
I’d love a gorgeous new formal, something like what I see on the red carpet. I have yet to find one that has really stolen my heart (at least that I can afford!), but I haven’t had the time to shop, either. I found a couple of dresses while I was in NYC that were so gorgeous I had to take a picture of them. I later found out that the one I liked best was $17,000!

Do you have a favorite pastry or desert that you can never resist?
I can scarcely resist any pastry or dessert. LOL I'm not much for candy, chips or other kinds of junk food (like soda). But I love anything that's baked. My favorite dessert right now is Chili’s hot molten cake. It’s served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream encased in a hard shell of chocolate, hot fudge and caramel. It's most decadent of desserts, and the one thing I save up calories for.

Are you ever influenced by the heroines you create and find yourself dressing like them or choosing clothing items that they might choose?
Not so far! Because I’ve written 38 books, I tend to move on pretty quickly. Also, I try to let each heroine have her own style, and that isn't always MY style (probably because my heroines are typically younger, prettier and far more hip than I am!).

What makes you feel glamorous?
A nice pair of heels! A woman's legs always look better in heels (I just wish they were more comfortable! Ha!).

Okay... so despite having the airconditioner set to a comfy 21 degrees Celsius, I know it's swealtering hot outside and that I am not going to be able to quench my unseasonable thirst for sweaters, boots and coats anytime soon.

However, that has never stopped me from dreaming of cool-enough weather in which to wear the above mentioned items (with scarves, gloves and tights thrown into the mix as well) albeit approximately three months too soon. So, when I saw this adorable navy and white striped sweater from stylist, Andrea Lieberman's label, A.L.C., I just couldn't help myself... I fell in love! Personally, I blame the adorable leather elbow patches. Something so old-timey, elbow patches are just absolutely timeless in their appeal and always make me feel very ivy-league and clever when I wear them!

Obviously, the first thing that I noticed about this dress was the fabric's amazing burst of color; then my attention was held by the clarity and flattery of the dress's cut; and finally, the gorgeous quality of its construction took my breath away. It was only after I noticed all that did I discover that this gorgeous dress by Lauren Pierce is part of a very special line of dresses. The unique fabrics are hand-made by Congolese women using traditional methods -- therefore providing employment to women who really need it -- and constructed in N.Y.C. But perhaps the most inspiring thing is that ten percent from the sales of the dresses in the Lauren Pierce line goes immediately back to a charity in the origin country of the fabric.

This is one of those rare occasions when a girl can hapily splurge on something for herself and not feel selfish while doing so. Now that is indeed a very pretty thing to behold!

This is one girl who loves color and refreshingly isn’t afraid of indulging in it. Maybe that’s why her attitude and demeanor are so refreshing and sweet. Whatever the case, she’s positively lovely and I was only too happy to talk to her about it all!

How would you describe your personal style?
I think it’s “mix and match” and it varies according to my mood. I love to wear lots of color in the summer and many dresses -- always.

What is currently your favorite outfit?
My two-tone, coral and fuchsia, jumper by Grace; the one I’m wearing right now, actually.

What is the one piece in your wardrobe that you wish you owned in multiples?
Any pair of my shoes and any of my dresses; I can never get enough of either!

Do you have a “signature” item that you wear everyday?
I usually wear a vintage, gold watch that used to belong to my grandmother. It’s also sort of my charm; I feel like if I’m wearing it then I’ll have a good day.

“More is more” or “less is more” when it comes to makeup?
Definitely “less is more.” In the daytime I’ll wear eyeliner under my eyes, blush and a pale or even a clear lip-gloss. For evening, I’ll add a brightly colored lipstick; I like really punchy colors and have many colorful lipsticks to choose from. I never wear eye shadow simply because I don’t know how to properly apply it.

Do you have a favorite perfume?
My go-to is Miss Dior Cherie. I also like the Korres, Vanilla-Cinnamon fragrance. However, I must admit that I don’t wear perfume very often.

Do you ever wear jeans or are you mostly a dress girl?
I’ll wear jeans during the winter but never in the summer -- I simply can’t take them in the heat. I like high-waist jeans because they suit my style and I really enjoy wearing them. But, I must admit that I’m more of a dress girl. That’s me.

Is there any item in particular that you are aspiring to acquire?
I’m really excitedly anticipating the dresses that I’ve ordered from Grace – they should be here any day! – as well as a 70’s dress from another designer friend of mine.

Are you a bag-person or a shoe-person?
A shoe person… yep, definitely a shoe person!

Which are your favorite pair of shoes?
My favorite pairs of shoes are actually some of my most recent purchases; I loved Melissa Australia + Vivienne Westwood’s “Lady Dragon Heart” heels so much that I bought two pairs, one in purple with a coral heart (the ones that I’m wearing right now) and a gold pair with a red heart.

Do you have a favorite handbag?
A few actually. This past winter I bought a black, Sonia Rykiel that I absolutely adore using. Also, I have a couple of clutches that I love; the one is a pink Miu Miu and the other is the YSL clutch with the hearts all over it.

Any fashion pet-peeves?
I don’t like it when I see women wearing too much makeup – especially during the daytime. It makes me want to wipe it off their faces. I prefer a simple, natural look for both day and evening.

What’s the most amazing item you own?
That would have to be my black and white, lace-up, Moschino boots which I bought ages ago. Also, my Louboutins. If you’ll notice these are all shoes again -- everything is about the shoes!

I never thought I’d say this – literally never – but… I am obsessing over a bug collection!
But not just any bug collection, mind you. The bugs in my collection have to be encrusted in diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds; their antennae have to be laced in gold and so their myriad of legs. Have I gone crazy, you might ask? Yes, my dear friends, I have… over Ileana Makri’s new “Bug” collection!

I was thrilled when she sent over these amazing photos and I feel the sudden urge to hop on a plane and head on over to London’s, Dover Street Market, to view them in person.

Vincente Minelli's, 1948 masterpiece, The Pirate, tells the story of a man -- the inimitable, Gene Kelly -- who figured out that girls really do love a good, bad guy; so, he pretends to be a murderous, plundering drifter in order to get the girl -- the beautiful, Judy Garland -- and, of course, he succeeds. How couldn't he?

This movie has received much critisism throught the years; from the get-go there were those who argued that it didn't meet expectations and then those who said that Minelli was ahead of his time.

I happen to agree with the latter.

Before I could even comprehend just exactly what it was that pirates did, I fell in love with the sheer spectacle of it all -- the exotic Caribbean, the actors, the singing, the dancing and of course... Tom Keogh's gorgeous costume designs!
I believe that what shaped my whole outlook and definition of chic is the sequence in which Judy Garland throws a red velvet skirt over her white nightgown, adds an armfull of bangles from a treasure chest and looks utterly glamorous while singing "Mack the Black." I mean, can anyone get more glamorous than Judy... in floor-sweeping velvet... singing?

My wedding ring (a simple but thick gold band) is always a stable but everything else changes. At the moment, I’m wearing a Black Diamond Cross pendant Stephen gave me for my last birthday and a Mummy Rocks locket with my daughter’s picture in it.

4. “More is more” or “less is more” when it comes to makeup?
Absolutely Less is more!!!

5. Do you have a favorite perfume?
Michael Kors, it’s the only one I wear. At work they always know when I’m in...

I love my evening bags; actually, I have a little black crocodile clutch that I’ve had for 15 or 16 years that I love. I think I bought it at either Barneys or Neiman Marcus, somewhere like that. But still whenever I carry it people come up to me and ask where I found it. It’s just perfect, teeny and it just goes with everything. My favorite day bag at the moment is Corto Moltedo’s, slouchy, shoulder bag from eel skin – it’s so light! I love my all Louboutins shoes as well.

7. Would you let go of your handbag in a case of drive-by theft?
I hate things like that. A couple of years ago my car was broken into at 11a.m. on my birthday. I had parked it right at the corner near the shop in order to carry a case of champagne into the office. I thought that I was just going to be one minute, so I left my Bottega Veneta handbag in the car. I loved that bag; it was one of those really soft ones plus it had been a present… anyway, they smashed the window and of course grabbed the bag with everything in it. The worst part was that we were flying to Tokyo the next day and aside from everything else I had every single credit card in that handbag. Stephen and I use the same cards so we flew the next day without a single credit card between the two of us. They also took my Blackberry, which I had just bought, as well as my keys and we had to change all the keys for the shop that day. I also lost all of my makeup, I literally had to try and buy little bits and pieces in the airport. So looking at it from the sort of perspective of loosing all these important articles I would hang onto my handbag for my life otherwise it’s a complete invasion!

Classic Rodgers and Hammerstein magnificence and with costumes by Irene Sharaff that I literally drooled over as a little girl. The detailing of the brilliance of both the Eastern and Western cultures is spot on and the times I drew Deborah Kerr's outfits -- and that satin ballgown in particular -- are too innumerable to number!

As I enter her bewitching home, I am greeted by Kerry – her too-cute-for-words 5 month old Maltese puppy! – and visions of faded jewel toned velvets, exquisite brocades and magnificent white orchids dance before my eyes. And the best part… one of the most comprehensive collections of handbags I have yet to see! Her collection runs the gamut from inexpensive, no-name, beaded versions to stark, black vinyl Prada’s, to mirrored Fendi Baguettes and of course—her perennial favorites—Hermes and Chanel, to name but a few. We are now both in our element, lost among our favorite past-time… talking handbags!

1. How many handbags do you own?

I have a very strong affinity towards handbags. I believe that a nice handbag and a nice shoe can transform and “dress up” even the most inexpensive of outfits. I honestly don’t know how many I have; I love them all but I must admit that my favorite brand is Hermes.

2. Have you ever bought vintage handbags?
No, I like new and current pieces. Of course a timeless handbag, such as a Hermes or a Chanel, can be used at any time and place. But I do however like to purchase them brand new.

3. What styles are you particularly drawn to?
I must admit to liking colorful bags that are full of beads and baubles and bows; in the summer I love them done in bright colorful fabrics. They can be made from a simple inexpensive fabric—they don’t have to be from very expensive leather—as long as they are well made. Quality is everything.

4. Have you ever purchased one solely because you saw it featured in a magazine?
No, a handbag has to represents me and my personal style.

5. Do you buy them for yourself or are they gifts to you from others?
Usually people don’t gift handbags from the stores that I like shopping from! I buy them for myself. However, I believe that a nice handbag makes the perfect gift and I often buy them to give to my friends. I must admit that they are always well received!

6. Growing up did you ever steal your Mom's handbags to play dress-up?
Yes I did; in fact, I must admit that I still raid her handbags because they are classic and timeless! She’s always had a great affinity towards handbags and has always favored the same ones I do. She still has some fantastic Chanel bags—the 2.55 with the chain strap. We both have the same style; I’ve simply expanded on the amount and the brands in my collection!

7. How old were you when you first got your first real handbag?
When I turned 18 my mother gave me my first real handbag; it was an exceptional little Dior. And then during my first year at university I bought the first handbag I’ve bought for myself. It was a Gucci with a long strap, very young and stylish. From then on I would save my money and spend it on really fine handbags. I’ve never bought cheap handbags.

8. What’s your opinion on all the fakes in the market?
I would never buy a fake. Never! I’d rather not buy any handbag at all than buy a fake.

9. Would you let go of it in a case of drive-by theft?
Unfortunately, I’ve had that happen to me and I let go of the handbag but I somehow managed to retain my wallet! I still don’t know how it happened. I was getting out of my car, when this pick-pocket on a motorbike comes by and grabs my bag as I was placing it on my shoulder. Out of anger I ran after him and somehow took hold of one of the bag straps; the bag opened and my wallet flung out! So I let go of the strap and he drove away with the bag but my wallet with all my credit cards and important papers was saved! It was a beautifully embellished bag that I liked very much and would use every summer.
It is such a feeling of invasion; that’s why I got so angry and ran after him. It was probably silly but it turned out well for me; I managed to save my wallet and he made off with nothing in the handbag but a lipstick and a sanitary pad!

10. Has there ever been a handbag that you regret having not bought?
Yes, there has been. Actually, I used to do that a lot and not only when it came to handbags; I would see something I liked and for some silly reason I wouldn’t purchase it. I would always regret it afterwards so now I have stopped doing that. If I really like something I’ll buy it right then and there, because I know that same item will never be at the store when I go back for it.

11. What’s inside your handbag?
My reading glasses, lipstick, small mirror and keys are always in my handbag.
In general because of my work I tend to use large handbags whose interior ends up resembling a convenience store! But no matter what I always have those four essential items in my bag.

To say that my dear friend, Niki, loves fashion would be an understatement! Perhaps it’s in her blood – her grandfather used to work alongside Geoffrey Beene after all – but from Westport to Rodeo Drive this girl is one of the best to have with you on a shopping spree! She instinctually zeros in on the most coveted and current “It” items, understands the value of a solid classic and knows that the wining combination is all in the mix!

I was thrilled to be given insight and a sneak peak into her fashionable must-haves and can’t wait to share them with you as well!

1. How would you describe your personal style?
Fun, Fearless & Feminine. My look represents who I am, so I match & mismatch different styles to inspire something that makes me feel confident. I never take it too seriously & I love pushing the envelope.

2. What is the go-to outfit in your wardrobe that always makes you feel put-together?
Well, my go-to piece is my Burberry Trench Coat – Paired with a fab bag & vintage shades, I can wear it over anything & feel ready to go rain or shine!

3. What are some pieces in your wardrobe that you wish you owned in multiples?
Alexander Wang T's- they are perfect for layering! On the weekends I flirt with a lime green lace bandeau bra that peeks through the v-neck and sides, it's super cute and you can easily dress them up or down. Also, I need another (3?) pairs of Lanvin leather ballet flats-I wear my hunter green ones almost every day and I've spotted them in canary yellow. It's on.

4. Do you have a “signature” item that you wear everyday?
I often wear a very sentimental gold plated engraved ear ring on my right hand. Not a typo- it's actually a gold ring with a little engraved ear on it. People always look twice which is another reason I love it :)

LESS IS MORE! Your best accessory is your smile so make sure your lips are dressed. Try bright red lipstick once in a while with subdued eyes- it will shock you that you can pull it off & it will make you feel S.E.X.Y

I'm not really a perfume girl, but maybe that's because it's been hard to find a "me" scent. I do fancy a spritz of Hanae Mori occasionally.

7. How many pairs of jeans do you own, which is your favorite pair and why?
I think most of my jeans have been a favorite of mine at some point. Right now I'm loving my Joe's Jeans Cigarette Leg in White. They cut at the ankle so they work well with every shoe & are perfect for summer (although, I never follow that rule)

8. What item is at the top of your current wish list?

Joie Rock Steady Fringe Suede booties in Pink Please :)

9. If you could design anything; what would it be?
I would love to be able to design my own home one day!

10. Are you a “bag-person” or a “shoe-person” and – according to your answer – which is your favorite handbag or favorite pair of shoes?
I'm a tall sole-loving sister. I enjoy life above six feet in my Jil Sander black leather ankle booties, they are super unique & super beautiful... the heel is made from carved black perspex. Insane.

Never intentionally.

Don't force it. Stay true to yourself & don't compromise your style for anyone or anything.

I gotta admit that I'm a jewelry gal!

I can't deny it and don't even try. The sparkle of a gemstone as light catches it, nestled amongst a bed of precious metal makes both my eyes and my heart glad. As a little girl I would make regular visits to my mother's jewelry box and reverantly take in it's treasures. And I could even try things on -- as long as I sat on the sofa and was very careful to not loose anything. Through the years, a few of these precious pieces have found their way into my own jewelry box either by design -- Mom, I swear I don't know how they got there :) -- or lovingly handed down.

To inaugurate what I hope to be a weekly series of interviews with fashion addicts from around the world who inspire me, I’d like to introduce you to Julie Agoraki (and her adorable little friend, Uma.)

My friend Julie is a tour de force; not only is she a brilliant novelist, poet and journalist but she has the most stunning sense of style and one of the most amazing and comprehensive collections of clothes and accessories to boot (more on that later.)

1. How would you describe your personal style?
Hard to define; it depends on my mood and my mood constantly evolves and changes.
2. Do you have a "signature" item that you wear everyday?
No, because I want each day to be a fresh start.
3. "More is more" or "less is more" when it comes to makeup?
I can’t stand wearing a lot of makeup; just a bit of blush, some mascara and lip-gloss.
4. Do you have a favorite perfume?
I don’t particularly like perfume. Occasionally I’ll use just a drop of a rare fragrance – made with deer glands – which is only available in Dubai.
5. How many pairs of jeans do you own, which is your favorite pair and why?
I have an army of jeans and I can’t ever get rid of a single pair – not even the jeans I used to wear in high school. My favorite is always my most recent purchase; so at the moment that would be a distressed pair with a slight bell-bottom by Dolce and Gabbana. I also like a pair by Berska that fit like a glove and cost a mere 35 Euros.
6. Any items in particular that you are aspiring to acquire?
A pair of Versace heels and a coral dress by Lanvin.
7. If you could design anything; what would it be?
Cinderella’s glass slipper infused with a super-high heel and the magical ability to make every prince in the realm swoon at my feet!
8. Do you have a favorite handbag?
That’s like asking a mother to choose between her children. Seriously, I’d have to say it’s a silver, vintage Chanel 2.55.
9. Your favorite pair of shoes?
A limited edition pair designed by Tom Ford for YSL inspired by the Russian steppe – they are amazing, hand-embroidered and with the most stunning, patent, red heels…
10. Do you match your bag to your shoes?
Never, it kills spontaneity.
11. Any fashion tips?
Choose lingerie to match your mood and never let your panties show above your waistband.

Strawberry Fool...

Sometimes I just feel like a Fool.
At least that’s what I felt like as I wandered around the stalls of the local Farmer’s Market a couple days ago and was tempted by the sight of fresh strawberries and jars of honey.
You know what I mean; those deliciously decadent English confections traditionally regarding whipped cream and any variety of sweetened fruit. However, perhaps inspired by my surroundings and the fact that traditional Greek cooking tends to incorporate yogurt instead of cream, I’ve made a few twists to the classic making my version not only an easy and healthy desert but – I find – just as satisfying and yummy as the original!

Ingredients:
½ kilo strawberries
500 gr. Greek yogurt
Honey to taste

Cut up half of the strawberries into bite sized pieces. In a bowl, add honey to taste (more or less depending on level of sweetness desired) and mix. Cover and set in aside (in refrigerator if overnight.)
Puree the other half of the strawberries and add honey to taste. Cover and set aside (in refrigerator if overnight.)
Whip Greek yogurt until light and creamy. Add honey to taste. Reserve a few bite sized strawberry pieces and then gently fold in both the remaining pieces and the pureed strawberry making sure to leave visible white streaks in the whipped yogurt.
Serve in four tall, long-stemmed parfait or wine glasses and garnish with reserved, cut-up strawberry pieces.

Many people talk badly about shopping and even I have to agree that – at times – it can be a rather heartless vocation; however, it can also be an art form when the shopper supports real talent and workmanship with the items that he or she chooses to purchase. Take this camisole, or actually any item, made by Carine Gilson. Exquisite is a bland term to use in describing what I think is simply one of the most amazing items. Made entirely by hand of Chantilly lace and the silkiest of Lyon silk satin; corny as it may sound I feel as if tiny little fairies painstakingly stitched every inch of it. That is how much detail there is on this camisole, making it simply much too gorgeous to hide under other garments.
On another scale is this handbag by Chloe; it’s simple and classic with such a high quality of workmanship making it a staple for not only years, but decades to come.
Isn’t longevity and relevance what real fashion is all about?
