No other item of clothing says "spring" to me as much as a stripey t-shirt, or "La Mariniere" as they are properly called. They're crisply polished, effortlessly chic and let's not forget oh, so French!Audrey Hepburn image courtesy WSJ
Coco Chanel popularized them in the 1930's and since then a plethora of classicaly stylish women -- from Audrey Hepburn and Jean Seberg, to Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin -- have rocked them to perfection. Modern style icons such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss are fans. Plus, everyone else looks good in one of them too!

Although I've been known to wear mine thoughout the year (under warmer layers) come the spring equinox they are the only t-shirt I want to wear. Paired with a pair of slouchy khakis or sand blasted jeans they just make me want to buy a baguette... or pick wildflowers... or stroll a nearby marina...
